I understand that a garage might not be able to complete a job within the allotted time. However, what I absolutely cannot accept are false promises and contradictory statements.
I dropped off my car in the morning. I was given a firm commitment that the repair would be carried out that same day and that I would either receive a call or could pick up the vehicle around 4:30 p.m. The estimate was approximately €1,150.
Around 1 p.m., my father drove past the garage. The car was untouched in the exact same parking space as in the morning, including the snow and slush from when it was parked. It hadn't been in front of the garage or moved. Despite this, when I inquired, they still said I could pick up the car in the afternoon.
: ... Shortly before closing time (around 4:20 p.m.), it suddenly became clear:
• The necessary parts hadn't even been ordered yet.
• The repair hadn't started.
Despite this, it had previously been claimed that the car had already been on the lift, which obviously can't be true (snow/dirt unchanged, vehicle not moved).
Another clue:
I forgot to lock the car when I dropped it off in the morning. Since I assumed the car would be taken to the garage soon anyway, I didn't think anything of it. However, in the evening, the car was still unlocked in the same parking space.
If the vehicle had actually been taken to the garage and later returned, it would inevitably have had to be locked. The fact that it remained unlocked clearly indicates that the car hadn't been moved or worked on at all.
Again: Having to postpone a repair isn't a problem. Dishonesty, false statements, and stalling customers, however, are. In my opinion, this is absolutely unprofessional.
