The staff are very friendly and competent. The service is excellent. Repairs are done quickly, and it's easy to communicate with them and find solutions. Even with unexpected problems, everyone was always very helpful and reliable. 10/10 experience.

Today, around 10:30 a.m., we pulled into the Pitstop garage in Ilmenau with a flat tire on our small car (Audi A1). We were actually on our way to the trade fair in Erfurt. We had just filled the tire with our emergency tire repair kit and inflated it on the highway. Unfortunately, air was still leaking out, just a bit more slowly. The tiny puncture, maybe 1 mm in diameter, on the tread – there was no foreign object in it – must have been picked up somewhere along the way.
We were hoping for a repair or a spare tire, even a used one if necessary… anything at all, so we could continue our journey. We received nothing, not even a repair kit, and they couldn't even inflate the tire.
"I can't help you with that"… What a shame.

I'm very happy to give them five stars because the team at Pitstop Ilmenau is incredibly friendly and does a fantastic job. They even showed me the broken parts without me having to ask, which isn't always the case.
I will definitely go back to them if I have a problem or need advice.
Sincerely, Christian S

No help whatsoever in case of a flat tire
We were driving from Meiningen to Erfurt today when we noticed a flat tire on our rear tire just before Ilmenau. We initially used our emergency repair kit and drove to Pit Stop in Ilmenau to have the tire repaired or replaced. It had a small hole in the tread.
But the first thing we heard from the mechanic was: "I don't have time for that today."
When we asked him to help us somehow, he brushed us off, saying he couldn't legally help us, and left us stranded.
Unbelievable! What law prohibits tire repair or replacement in case of a flat tire?
This man is clearly in the wrong profession.

During the vehicle inspection (TÜV), the "friendly" owner told me I had rust holes in the rear axle mount. He also claimed it was completely rusted through. He said the car was a danger on the road, but he'd take care of it for at least €1,500... The problem is, the holes he claimed were original to the car's bodywork, and I had the rust spot professionally and neatly welded for €200 at Vogelherd. After that, the car passed the TÜV inspection without any issues.
Besides, the owner of the shop is always lecturing you and is convinced he's always right about everything, since, of course, none of his customers know anything about cars.
After I had the tie rod ends and control arms replaced on my car, I also had a wheel alignment done there. The tie rod ends had been installed for less than 24 hours. Despite all that, the boss adjusted the alignment so that the car pulled to one side and the steering wheel was turned way to the right into the neutral position.
His explanation was: "If you're going to replace the tie rod ends yourself, you have to grease them so they don't seize up." That's why they couldn't be turned and the alignment was only moderately good. I'm laughing my head off! My own alignment with a long piece of string was better than this botched job! Of course, I still had to pay €30 for it. 🥲
